textpattern, wordpress, & redesign

robinna/ January 3, 2008/ software, publishing, Design, CMS, my projects, webdesign, XHTML/XML/CSS/ 0 comments

I’m re-doing one of my domains with textpattern or wordpress. I considered drupal, but to be honest, I want something with a little stronger 3rd party support. There are several features & functionalities missing in drupal which I need. For a site from scratch or one with content generated from within drupal, all is well. For those working with 3rd

Blogs you should read

robinna/ December 20, 2007/ Design/ 0 comments

On one library list, there is an ongoing discussion about library related or librarian blogs that librarians should be reading. I’m sure everyone has their favorites.  I read a lot of nonlibrary tech blogs that I find interesting and I participate in a couple of lists that do not have blogs. Anyhow here is my library related reading list: Catalogablog, http://catalogablog.blogspot.com/

digital video and compatibility

robinna/ November 18, 2007/ Design, CMS, life 2.0+/ 0 comments

I have a kind of old video/dvd converter/player thingie which works OK, but compatibility is a serious problem. The problem I am having now is that apparently only DVD+RW VIDEO works in my machine. What happened to the personal webpage?

robinna/ November 10, 2007/ Design/ 0 comments

Interesting post in ACRL’s blog about the personal webpage vs. blog. While I found more of the blogging academic librarians less likely to have well-developed web sites, I found more

Hello & welcome to my mostly professional journal blog. I write about all sorts of things that interest me — mostly web stuff, cool new technologies, a sprinkling of art stuff, etc. So, who am I? Well, that depends on the day of the week, I suppose. I am indeed an artist. Although, I currently work in the very textural

practical & productive networking tools

A friend of mine who is a k-12 art teacher asked about getting started with social networking. She does a little blogging here and there, but she is knee deep in teaching at the moment, which limits her time online. I thought for a bit about how to respond to her question. Her question focuses more on personal professional networking,

Well, my presentation on web 2.0 technologies for blogging is finally coming together. I’m using google presentation to house the presentation and I’ll publish it out on the web when finished. I’ve sent the presentation off to my co-presenter for her part and review. I’ve got to do a little bit of work over the next couple of weeks to

So you want to create an online newsletter, a magazine or e-zine? What should you use? There are many choices, some of which depend on budget size. My budget size= ZERO dollars. My investigation actually began in May with Drupal. These were reviewed as of August 2007. System requirements for most of these (but not all): Apache or IIS server; MySQL or
